“..You follow my gf and not me on insta so we have beef,” Taylor Fritz expressed his gratitude on X after ESPN gave him a special mention for reaching his first final in New York. However, being the first American man to reach the finals in the US Open since 2003 resulted in an additional admirer on his fans’ list: His girlfriend, Morgan Riddle’s. Even before the US Open started, Riddle posted on Instagram, “Taylor’s mad tonight because ESPN followed me on Instagram and doesn’t follow him.” But wait!
Following a hard-fought five-set victory against his compatriot, Frances Tiafoe, Taylor Fritz made a record by reaching the second week in all four majors in a single year, a feat last achieved by Andre Agassi 21 years ago. Naturally, appreciation from fans, tennis experts, and media came rushing by, but as ESPN chimed in, Fritz playfully complained to the broadcaster of not following him on Instagram but his influencer girlfriend, Riddle, who has over 371K followers on the platform. And, it seems that the broadcaster noted it immediately.
Riddle’s latest Instagram story highlights a screenshot revealing Fritz’s followers’ list, which now has ESPN in it! Moreover, she accompanied the post with a three-word message, “proud of you,” making for a lighthearted moment in the tennis world.
