Laslo Djere commenced this season with an opening round exit in the Hong Kong Open, which he experienced again in the Australian Open and the Grand Prix Hassan II. Anyway, his performance against opponents in the Argentina Open, Rio Open, and Miami Open was way better as he reached round two before leaving. Now, he aims to beat the Greek player for his third win on clay this year.
The Greek star has had a tough time this year. He lost to Taylor Fritz in the Australian Open, which was followed by a semifinal exit in the Los Cabos Open and then a quarterfinal exit in the Mexican Open to Casper Ruud. Facing back-to-back defeats caused him to drop out of the top 10 for the first time since March 2018.
His performance did not improve much on American soil either, where he was ousted in the round of 16 in the Indian Wells and the first round of Miami. Now, he is aiming to turn his season around on his favorite surface.
Djere vs Tsitsipas: Head-to-Head
The Greek and the Serbian players have played against each other four times in the past. Their first match took place in the ITF Casablanca in 2016, where Tsitsipas emerged victorious in three sets. They would play against each other three times on the main draw of the ATP Tour, where Tsitsipas maintains an unbeaten record.
The two have fought in the 2022 Acapulco Open, the 2022 Monte-Carlo Masters, and the 2023 Wimbledon, where the Greek player has been the victor each time. He not only has dominance against the player every time they have met, but he has beaten Djere three times on outdoor clay courts, giving him a handsome advantage.

The two players haven’t done much to set each other apart in 2024. However, Tsitsipas has dominance over Djere whenever they have met, never dropping a set in the ATP Tour, albeit their bouts being close contests. Monte-Carlo is another advantage for Tsitsipas, as he has won the tournament twice in his career.
Djere has struggled to trouble the top ATP players this year, and Tsitsipas is no different. The only thing Djere has going for him currently is his experience on clay. Djere has 66.52% wins on clay while Tsitsipas has 75% wins on clay, despite Djere having won 302 matches on clay, more than the 244 matches Tsitsipas has ever played on the surface.
