The Monte Carlo Masters have advanced ahead with the best of 16 where the young Dane Holger Rune is set to be in a showdown against Grigor Dimitrov. But didn’t they both play a match earlier today? That’s right! Both Rune and Dimitrov have played their round of 32 matches earlier today but are still up for playing another one.

The Masters 1000 event in Monaco took a turbulent turn of events as extensive rain delays on the 10th of April forced a rescheduling of important matches. Looking forward to the showdowns that were affected, Holger Rune secured a victory over Indian ATP star Sumit Nagal in three sets, whereas Grigor Dimitrov defeated Miomir Kecmanovic with a final scoreline of 6-4, 6-3.

While both of these matches were played today itself, their upcoming showdown against each other will also be played on the same day. This rearrangement in the schedule has left both Rune and Dimitrov facing the challenge of back-to-back games, increasing both mental pressure and physical fatigue.

Be it the Miami Open or the Monte Carlo Masters, rain delays have been a consistent part of the show. While everyone is generally angry at the extensive rain delays, it is Carlos Alcaraz who sets the perfect example of keeping himself entertained during the halt period.

“Of course, helps a lot to watch videos about Rocky that I did, so it helped a lot as well (smiling). But you have to realize that it can happen, and, you know, try to be as good as you can,” the Spaniard said, revealing his go-to activity during the rain delays.

Along with that, Alcaraz also explained how he used the time to have meaningful conversations with his coach Juan Carlos Ferrero. “We were talking, Juan Carlos and me, that I have to start very well, very aggressive, you know, really, really focused in the warmup, in the three or four minutes that they gave us to warm up, to stay focused, stay, let’s say, good,” he added.
