‘Mirka Is So Over It’- Tennis Fans Left Stunned After Roger Federer’s Wife Breaks the Internet With Her Stoic Reaction to Bizarre Laver Cup Moment

The Laver Cup has been a rollercoaster of emotions this season, giving fans their fair share of thrills and spills. With heated moments on the court and the tournament’s outcome hanging in the balance, it’s been a ride that tennis enthusiasts can’t get enough of. But just when everyone thought they’d seen it all, Ben Shelton’s recent on-court incident has sparked a whole new wave of discussions. What’s grabbing even more attention, though, is the unexpected reaction from none other than Mirka Federer, wife of the legendary Roger Federer. 

The third day of the tournament began with the world team leading 8-4. With Ben Shelton and Frances Tiafoe taking on Casper Ruud and Carlos Alcaraz, the drama was anticipated but not in a hilarious way. During the second set of the match, the fans witnessed Shelton suffer a nasty fall on Team Europe’s side.

Towards the end of the second set, on Shelton’s serve at 5-5, 40-40 Alcaraz delivered a fabulous backhand volley that was not returned by any of the Americans. Shelton ran after the ball but could not get there on time and raised his finger to challenge the call. He had thought that the ball had landed out. However, while doing so, he fell over on Team Europe’s side.

This quickly drew reactions of worry from several individuals sitting in the stands, including the likes of Roger Federer. The Swiss Maestro was seen worried and the astonishment of the incident was evident on his face.

In a video shared by the official X account of the Laver Cup, Federer could be seen raising his hands in confusion. Captioning the post, the official X account of the Laver Cup wrote, “Emotions of the Laver Cup.” But what also captured the attention of the fans was the reaction of Federer’s wife Mirka. 

Mirka Federer was seen unmoved by the entire incident as there were no emotions reflected on her face. She was seen keenly watching the match but the incident did not seem to create an impact on her. This quickly caught the eyeballs of the fans who took to social media and shared hilarious responses to Mirka’s reaction.

Taking to X, one user wrote, “LOL, Mirka is stone-faced!  She’s seen everything!” Indeed! Mirka has always stood by her husband and has seen him go through various phases on the courts. From victories to defeats, and the best of Federer’s health to his nasty injuries, Mirka has seen it all and this was shared by Federer himself.

Speaking about the sufferings of Mirka during his matches especially when he went through the injury phases, Federer said in his documentary that it was one reason that compelled him to take a call about his career. “It’s only afterward where I started to realise how much Mirka has been suffering. I don’t remember her begging me to stop but of course, she was asking the question – Why are you still doing this?” Similar reactions followed from other X users as well. 

Responding to the post, one user wrote, “Mirka is so over it HAHAHA.” A major reason behind this could be the phase of the match when the incident occurred. The first set of the match witnessed Ruud and Alcaraz dominate the American opponents 6-2. During the latter stages of the second set at 5-5, 40-40, Alcaraz hit a brilliant backhand volley that baffled both the Americans. While many already anticipated the American pair to lose the match, the drama that unfolded seemed to leave little impact on Mirka. In fact, Shelton went on to lose the challenge as well. Meanwhile, several other X users joined the fray to express similar sentiments.

“Mirka looking like, ‘I thought I was done with this ish,” wrote another user. Mirka has witnessed several tragic incidents unfolding on the tennis courts. In fact, Roger claimed that because of these tragic incidents and the struggles that he faced, Mirka even hesitated to sit in the stands anymore watching his matches. “I know that for her sitting there, she really didn’t like that anymore,” Federer said previously. The series of reactions from fans continued. 

Responding to the post, yet another user shared a picture of the character Tashi Duncan and wrote, “This is why Mirka inspired a movie.” Remember, even the screenwriter of the film Challengers, Justin Kuritzkes, claimed that the character of Tashi Duncan was inspired by Mirka Federer. He also said that watching Mirka stress in the stands during the Match between Federer and Novak Djokovic, in Wimbledon 2019, started giving him ideas for the film.

One more user shared similar sentiments and wrote, “Mirka isn’t moved 😁”  For now, it would be interesting to see how the remainder of the Laver Cup unfolds and which team takes the coveted title back home.
