Nick Kyrgios assesses his performance after defeating Andrey Rublev
The 26-year-old spoke about his display in a post-match interview after his second-round victory. He said, “I mean obviously, he came out hard in the start and that’s tennis. You know, a couple of points can swing a momentum change like that.”
Further, he added, “I know that he’s a hard player that relies on a bit of rhythm, so I just tried to keep the points short and sharp, just played aggressive. I can’t let him get on too many groundstrokes, but I’m just having my performance, whether it’s 7-6 in the third or something like this, I’m just happy to get through. You know, a top-10 or top-20 or top-1000, I don’t really care. I can lose to anyone on any given day and I can beat anyone, it’s been the story of my career, so I’m just happy to get through.”
