Miami Open: How Many Coaches Does Grigor Dimitrov Have? Exploring His Supportive Team and Its Members

Grigor Dimitrov is on a roll at the Miami Open, as he is now just one win away from his 10th singles title on the men’s tour. With a stellar display of his on-court prowess, the Bulgarian tennis star has brushed aside top guns to reach the championship game. However, the 32-year-old player’s remarkable achievement at this esteemed Masters 1000 event isn’t the fruit of his labor alone.

Toiling behind Dimitrov during his remarkable campaigns on the tour have been his two coaches, Daniel Vallverdu and Jamie Delgado. Before donning a coach’s hat, Vallverdu also played competitive tennis as a pro player. In addition to his coaching duties, the Venezuelan former player has also taken on some authoritative roles on both the men’s and women’s tours, as he is the Tournament Director of the Washington Mubadala Citi DC Open ATP and WTA 500 tournaments. Not just this, Vallverdu is also the co-tournament director of the 2023 Next Generation ATP Finals in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Jamie Delgado, on the other hand, is also a former tennis player, and he participated in a number of tournaments during his competitive journey. Back in 2006, Delgado was also a part of Great Britain’s team in the international team tennis event, the Davis Cup. In addition, the 37-year-old British tennis coach holds the record for the most consecutive male participation in the Wimbledon Championship. He participated in the grass Grand Slam event for the 23rd time in 2014.

Under the tutelage of his two coaches, Dimitrov has pulled off brilliant performances at the Miami Open, for which he is getting lauded by Delgado.

For his phenomenal performances at the Hard Rock Stadium, the Bulgarian player also earned praise from his coach, Delgado.

Prior to Dimitrov’s quarterfinal victory, the Venezuelan tennis coach said, “He’s still in incredible physical shape, and he’s got a great game that can trouble a lot of the younger guys with his variety. If we can get some order in his game and get some confidence going, he can get back into the top 10, and we can go from there.”
