Although Cameron Norrie has been a consistent presence across tournaments this year, he hasn’t lived up to the expectations set by him. Norrie has failed to dig deep in the tournaments this season, with a semifinal appearance at the Rio Open being the best that he could achieve. Moreover, he hasn’t been in the best of form of late. Earlier this month, Norrie lost in the round of 32 of the Indian Wells Masters.

Meanwhile, Cobolli, who is unseeded in the tournament, has had a similar fate to Norrie. Despite playing in as many as six tournaments before the Miami Open this year, he hasn’t gone beyond the quarterfinal stage. Further, in the first round of the Miami Open, he defeated Japan’s Yoshihito Nishioka in three sets. Given the similarities in their fortunes this year, expect a close contest between Norrie and Cobolli.
