Roger Federer has been one of the greatest stalwarts of the modern sporting world. During his illustrious career, he has had many notable rivalries on the tennis court. From Rafael Nadal to Novak Djokovic, Federer has often stepped up his game while playing against these top players. One such epic rivalry was against the American tennis legend, Andre Agassi.

The two first met in Basel in 1998, where Agassi prevailed over the Swiss maestro in straight sets. While Agassi dominated the early course of their rivalry, Federer came back strongly to have a superior head-to-head record against him. In the 11 matches played between them, Federer has triumphed on 8 occasions. Recently, Agassi had a message for Federer after he announced his retirement.

It has been over a year since we last saw the Swiss maestro in action. His latest appearance came at the Wimbledon Championships in 2021, where he got knocked out in the quarterfinals. Polish tennis star Hubert Hurkacz defeated Federer in that match while also inflicting a bagel on the Swiss legend.
However, fans will be able to catch a glimpse of Federer in action again next week. He will play in the Laver Cup at The O2 in London.

What are the teams for the 2022 Laver Cup?
Team Europe will aim to defend their title at next week’s tournament against Team World. The former boasts of a star-studded lineup. Joining Federer in Team Europe will be the likes of Nadal, Djokovic, and Murray. Additionally, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Casper Ruud have also confirmed their participation in the tournament.

On the other hand, Team World boasts of young stars like Felix Auger-Aliassime, Frances Tiafoe, and Taylor Fritz. Further, the likes of Diego Schwartzman, Alex de Minaur, and Jack Sock complete Team World’s lineup for the Laver Cup.
