Ever since the start of tennis season this year, Italian tennis star Matteo Berrettini has been producing good results as they started with Italy reaching the ATP cup finals. Even at the Australian Open, Berrettini reached the fourth round.

After putting up a spirited performance against Novak Djokovic in the French Open quarter-finals, the Italian continued his good run on the grass-court season as well and won the Queen’s Club Championships.
Ahead of Wimbledon, if there was a player who seemed to give a tough fight to Djokovic in the finals, it was Berrettini. Deservedly, he became the first Italian men’s singles player to reach the finals at Wimbledon.
Matteo Berrettini will join Team Europe in Laver Cup’s fourth edition
Despite a tough loss in the championship match, Berrettini has a lot to look forward in the upcoming US hard-court season. As a result of his marvelous run, the Laver Cup decided to add him to Team Europe in this year’s edition of the tournament which will take place in Boston.

This will be Berrettini’s debut at the Laver Cup. Started in 2017, this tournament garnered the attention of fans for the entertainment quotient with highly established names like Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, etc playing together as a team.
Speaking about Berrettini’s inclusion, tennis legend and Team Europe captain Bjorn Borg expressed his delight and applauded the Italian for his glorious run on the ATP tour this year.

“He will relish the unique experience” – Bjorn Borg on Berrettini’s inclusion
“He is a great addition to our team and I have no doubt he will relish the unique experience that Laver Cup provide as he teams up alongside his year-round rivals”, Borg mentioned.
The Italian also responded on his inclusion into the Laver Cup as he is excited to play alongside his childhood idol, Roger Federer.

Team Europe won all the three editions of the Laver Cup so far with Team World waiting to get their hands on the trophy.
