Being two players of such caliber and class, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that they are two of the greatest players of all time. However, what if a situation arises in which one needs to be chosen as more difficult to beat at slams? Preparing for the 2022 Wimbledon, Matteo Berrettini recently chose to answer it. His choice? Novak Djokovic.
Novak Djokovic a harder competition for Matteo Berrettini
Replicating his 2021 grass-court season, Berrettini has already started showing his dominance on the grass court in 2022. Winning the Stuttgart Open, the 2021 Wimbledon runner-up is back in the finals of Queen’s Club to defend his title. Heading towards Wimbledon, Berrettini recently opened up about playing and beating Djokovic and Nadal in majors.

Making a choice in such a case may be difficult for a player. However, that didn’t seem to be the case with Berrettini. Without giving it a second thought, the Italian chose Novak Djokovic over Rafael Nadal as a tougher opponent in slams. He said, “Beating Djokovic in a Slam is probably one of the toughest things you can ever do. I’m not saying that beating Rafa is easy, but winning against Novak is harder”

A similar sight has been in the case of Nadal. The two have played each other twice in their career so far. Coincidentally, in Grand Slams on both occasions. However, like in the case of Djokovic, Berrettini also trails 2-0 against the Spaniard.
While Berrettini has placed his bets on Djokovic, a number of tennis fans have also placed their bets on Nadal. The three are now heading towards England for the 2022 Wimbledon Championship.
