Hubert Hurkacz has now spent almost 9 years on the professional tour in tennis. The 27-year-old Polish star has already won 7 titles in his career and featured in the SF of Wimbledon in 2021. If asked to recall some of the best moments of his career so far, Hurckacz recalls the retired legend he faced at the Grand Slam on grass.

Hurkacz recently revealed that playing against Roger Federer at the Wimbledon in 2021 was one of the most special moments in his career. Let’s find out more about his revelations during the recent episode of Sky Sports Tennis Podcast.

Hubert Hurkacz recalls his “best memories on the court”

The world number 8, recently witnessed a shocking defeat at the hands of the local lad, Tallon Griekspoor at the Round of 16 in the Rotterdam Open. He will now look forward to making a comeback at his next tournament. But before that, here’s what he said when he was asked about the most memorable moments of his life. “That’s difficult. I mean so many good moments. I know it doesn’t really answer your question. But obviously, there are some amazing memories you know on the court and off the court also. On the court, obviously winning in Shanghai last year and then playing against Roger at Wimbledon.

Recalling that moment with the Swiss Maestro, he added, “That was something really special and so that’s one of the best memories on the court.” Hubert Hurkacz is a big fan of Roger Federer. He once admitted that he has always loved watching the Swiss legend play since he was a kid.

“He is such an incredible player and person. If I could borrow something from his game, it would definitely be the way he was committed to his shots, to his plan and to his ideas. That was something really incredible,” Hurkacz said.

But did you know Hubert Hurkacz had once unintentionally ignored the Swiss Maestro during a match last year? It was just after his second Masters win in Shanghai, and Roger Federer was among the attendees in the crowd at the final.

‘Hopefully, he won’t take it personally’ – Hurkacz on snubbing Federer during his victory speech in Shanghai

After the match, during the post-match interview, Hubert Hurkacz forgot to thank Roger Federer for attending the match. Hurkacz said afterward, “You know, the tournament, there’s so many champions who won it in the past and so many amazing players. And in my speech, I was, like, trying to thank everyone. I forgot to mention Roger, thanks for coming, so, yeah, sorry for that.

He further added, “Hopefully, he won’t take it personally (smiling). But definitely, you know, fun to play in front of him. Hopefully, he enjoyed a little bit and, yeah, just so excited.”
