Injuries are a part of not only the tennis world but also the competitive arena; every athlete must cope with injuries at some point in their careers. In the same way, while everything was going well for the American rising phenomenon, he may have noticed a minor stumbling block on his path to success on the tennis court, and it is none other than an injury.
Recently, in a press conference after defeating Jordan Thompson, he opened up about why he was wearing a K-tape as a precaution for his abdominal area. Along with that, he also revealed how he has been struggling with pain since the time the tournament started.
He stated, “I kind of strained my ab a little bit, maybe two days before the tournament started and I was feeling pain for probably three or 4 days after. It’s pretty much subdued at this point but I just want to leave it there and make sure I don’t re-aggravate it but yeah it’s not limiting it.”
On the other hand, although it’s not a typical injury, he is just trying to avoid any hurdle that stops him from playing competitive tennis this year. Besides, he is looking ahead of time and wants to stay injury-free for a bit.
