Rafael Nadal had a hectic 2022 season, to begin with. With impressive performances, Nadal made it to the finals of all the tournaments he has played this season. He had a 21-match unbeaten run this year going into the finals of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells. However, American tennis star, Taylor Fritz, halted his winning run. Fritz defeated Nadal in straight sets to win the Indian Wells Masters 1000 title.

During the tournament, Nadal suffered a stress fracture in his rib. Subsequently, he was out for around one and a half months due to this rib injury. The Spaniard is making a comeback on the tour at the Madrid Open. During his second-round win over Miomir Kecmanovic, he was involved in a series of hilarious moments.

There was a brief interruption during Nadal’s second-round match in Madrid due to rain. While going off the court, Nadal forgot to take his bag along with him.

Nonetheless, Nadal put on an impressive display to prevail over the Serb, Miomir Kecmanovic, in straight sets. The first set was a one-sided affair, with Nadal taking a 3-1 lead, breaking his opponent’s serve in the fourth game. Subsequently, he won the next three games to take the first set 6-1.

On the contrary, the second set was a keenly fought affair. The two players exchanged breaks of serves in the fifth and the sixth game of the second set. After breaking the Serb’s serve in the 11th game, Nadal failed to serve out the set in the next game. Eventually, the Spaniard won the tiebreaker to proceed to the next round. In the third round, Nadal will take on David Goffin. Their match is scheduled for later today.
