The likes of Felix Auger-Aliassime and Denis Shapovalov will now be gracing the red clay courts at the Caja Mágica in Manzanares Park, San Fermín. However, during their campaigns in Madrid, the ATP superstars recently issued their honest take on their respective ‘happiest moments’, which has not sat well with a flurry of fans on social media.

The renowned tennis journalist and commentator, José Morgado, recently brought to light Felix Auger-Aliassime and Denis Shapovalov’s takes on moments both on and off the court. He tweeted, “Both Felix and Denis said that the “happiest moment of their lives” are related to their long time girlfriends. Cute.”

Ahead of their openers at the Madrid Open, Auger-Aliassime and Shapovalov recently confessed that some of their “happiest moments” are related to their long-time girlfriends. As they weren’t about their on-court endeavors, the ATP players became a target of brutal criticism from fans, who slammed them for prioritizing their girlfriends.

A flurry of fans were quick to drop their reactions in the comments section, as they lashed out at Auger-Aliassime and Denis Shapovalov for not picking up an achievement from their competitive journey.

With his stellar on-court prowess, Auger Aliassime has won five singles ATP titles, including his two triumphs at the Swiss Indoors Basel. Shapovalov, on the other hand, has one title on the tour and has also secured a semifinal finish at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships. However, the Canadian tennis players’ remarkable accolades were labeled as “tinpot cups” by a user in the comments section.

Another fan took a dig at the ATP players for picking something that is ‘not related’ to the racket game.

Rather than ‘alpha’, one fan simply stated that these two had a ‘Beta mentality’.

A fan also mocked Auger-Aliassime and Shapovalov by calling them out for their lackluster performances, as they both have faced a number of initial round defeats this season.

The Canadian players have become a target of criticism from fans ahead of their openers in Madrid. Auger-Aliassime will be starting his campaign by locking horns with Yoshihito Nishioka, while his compatriot, Shapovalov, will face Facundo Diaz Acosta in the round of 128 at the ATP Masters 1000 event.
