Roger Federer is one of the most successful sports person of all time. The swiss maestro has given his fans so many remarkable moments to enjoy the sports. As a result, he has achieved 20 grand slams and other victories in his illustrative career. Notably, he has been associated with tennis for more than 20 years now. 

However, a few days ago, the former world number one announced his retirement. He will play his last tournament which would be the Laver’s Cup. Famous personalities around the world are pouring in their heart in the way of tributes for the tennis legend. Even American businessman, Bill Gates, sends an encouraging message to Federer over his retirement.

Bill Gates tribute to Roger Federer

Gates posted a message for the tennis legend, while re-sharing his retirement tweet and captioned it as, “You’ve been an incredible friend to me and an inspiration to an entire generation of tennis players. I’m lucky to have seen you work your magic on the court many times. And I’m excited to watch your philanthropic work grow in this next phase of your life.”

Bill gates has admired the former world number one and paid tribute as a friend. He hopes to see his growth in the upcoming phase after retiring from the sport. The 20-time grand slam champion has always inspired everyone including people outside of the Sports fraternity due to his phenomenal impact both on and off the court.

Federer had not played a tournament since last year, he has been facing injury woes and was not able to perform well in his past tournaments and decided to call it a day.

Gates once played tennis with Federer

Back in 2020, Gates participated in the match for Africa and played with the former world number one. It was a charity event when they first met each other. In that event, the 20-time grand slam champion characterised him as one of the most knowledgeable person and said he felt quite small standing beside him.

Federer who started his professional career in 1998 is ready to retirement in this month. The 41-year-old initially planned to compete in the laver’s Cup and the ATP 500, which will take place in Basel at the end of the month. 

Roger fans are eagerly waiting to see the legend play in his last tournament.
