Frenchman Lucas Pouille has been missing from the ATP tour for several months running. There’s more negative news in that aspect as Pouille informed that he has tested positive for COVID-19.

It has been a difficult time for everyone around the world as the pandemic is still looming large with its effects. Lucas Pouille is now yet another victim of the deadly virus.

“Unfortunately I have just been tested positive for COVID-19. I am going to put myself in isolation for a period of seven days. A new test will be done at the end of this period to see if I’m still positive or not,” Pouille announced.

“The FFT medical service has been notified of the situation. So far, I’ve only developed loss of smell as a symptom.”

This statement certainly comes as a shock to tennis fans. Not only does Pouille get added to the list of tennis players to have contracted the virus, but it also affects his return time table.

Lucas Pouille is yet to play in an ATP tournament since the tennis activites resumed after the hiatus. His final game before the break was a loss to Feliciano Lopez at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown in June.

Lucas Pouille announced yet another disheartening news this week

The positive COVID-19 test adds more despair to an already disappointing weak for Lucas Pouille. Just a day ago, news broke out that there is now a void in Pouille’s coaching team.

Pouille’s compatriot and coaching staff Amelie Mauresmo is now no longer a part of the unit as she’s decided to step away from her role.

Mauresmo joined Pouille’s coaching team back in December 2018 and helped him achieve a semi-final finish at the 2019 Australian Open. The 26-year-old vastly improved his game over the past year under Mauresmo’s guidance, but the relationship has now been broken.
