Daniil Medvedev, the Russian tennis ace, had a splendid start to the year 2022. He marked his dominance in the sport by reaching the final of the Australian Open. Even though Medvedev failed to claim the crown in Melbourne, his efforts took him to the summit of the ATP rankings.

Because of his contribution to tennis since 2014, the 2021 US Open champion was awarded a position in the special Netflix documentary. The documentary, based on tennis, features several tennis stars along with the next gen. In a recent interview, the Russian spoke about how he is eager to watch the piece.

Daniil Medvedev shares his excitement

The current World No.2 shared his excitement about the documentary, which will reveal the lesser known facts about several players. He said, “There is a lot of things that I don’t know about the other players. I go to dinner with my friends on tour, but never been to the apartment of 95% of them tour members. So it should be fun”.

Further, Medvedev admitted that every footage of him is from the ATP/ Grand Slam tours. Also, he is optimistic about changing the same in the future.

Currently, the former World No.1 is testing his luck in the clay courts of the French Open. Although he believes he isn’t the strongest in clay, he is doing pretty good in the red dirt of the ongoing Grand Slam.

The Russian took an easy win against the severely injured Argentine professional, Facundo Bagnis in the first round. Thereafter, he thrashed Serbian Laslo Dere in straight sets of 6-3, 6-4, 6-3 and is now gearing up to secure his seat in the quarterfinals.

Who is Medvedev’s next opponent?

Medvedev defeated the 22-year-old Serbian tennis professional, Miomir Kecmanović in the third round, 6-2, 6-4, 6-2 to meet the 2014 US Open champion, Marin Cilic, in the fourth round.

They have locked horns thrice earlier and Medvedev has an impressive record against the Croat, having won all three previous match-ups. However, this will be their first face off in clay. In addition, as the Russian is coming back from an injury, Cilic might just fancy securing his first win agianst the Russian star. The match is scheduled to take place on Monday.
