The ATP tour recently unveiled a pioneering initiative, sparking discussions about player welfare and financial support. In a tweet that reverberated across the sports community, the tour introduced a three-year trial set to launch in 2024. This initiative aims to provide a safety net for players, ensuring financial stability and enabling them to focus on their careers with confidence.

Under this visionary plan, the top 250 players will benefit from a guaranteed “salary“. The structure of the initiative is meticulously designed, offering $300K to players ranked 1-100, $150K for those positioned between 101-175, and $75K for ranks 176-250. This move is intended not only to uplift players but also to foster a sense of security and sustainability in their pursuit of excellence.

However, amidst the support for this groundbreaking initiative, Nick Kyrgios injected his views into the conversation. Kyrgios, known for his unfiltered opinions, expressed his dissatisfaction with the proposed figures, saying that they are still insufficient to meet players’ needs. “Lol! still not enough,” said Kyrgios to express his dissatisfaction with the initiative ATP is supposed to launch.

Thus, while this initiative might be valuable for some, players like Kyrgios seem dissatisfied. However, recently, Nick Kyrgios warmly welcomed the Saudi’s initiative when they expressed their involvement in the ATP- Next Gen Finals.

Nick welcomes Saudi’s initiative in the ATP

Long back, the Saudis tried to enter the tennis world with their massive investments. They wanted to host the upcoming ATP Next-Gen Finals. Their involvement would have resulted in the players getting more money from the Saudis than any other traditional Grand Slam or any other tournament.

While many players boycotted the involvement of Saudi and said that it would only degrade the game, Nick Kyrgios came ahead and stood in support. Thus, Nick Kyrgios has been unbiased when it comes to expressing his opinion.
