Australian tennis ace Nick Kyrgios has pulled out of the United Cup. The 27-year-old was going to be a part of the team event. However, a last-minute withdrawal has left everyone associated with the event and his fans in shock. The Australian team captain Samantha Stosur also had no prior knowledge regarding the same.

It is a major setback for the Australian team. Their star player Nick Kyrgios is going to miss this year’s United Cup. Kyrgios was present there in the setup and pulled out at the last moment because of an ankle injury. However, the more surprising part here is that the team captain Samantha Stosur had no prior knowledge about it.

Here’s what she said in her press conference, reported by The Guardian:

“He was here. We literally turned up 10 minutes ago, pretty much the same time as you guys,” she said.

On the other hand, Greek tennis star and Kyrgios’ arch-rival Stefanos Tsitsipas knew about the same. Here’s what he said.

“I don’t think it’s surprise, I don’t see it as a surprise. I hope he enjoys his holidays,” Tsitsipas said.

From Tsitsipas’ words, it seems like he had prior knowledge about Kyrgios’ possibility of missing out. On the other hand, the 27-year-old didn’t inform his own team and captain beforehand.

Nick Kyrgios argues with the umpires again

Kyrgios is famous for his on-court meltdowns. The 27-year-old recently made the headlines again as he lashed out at the chair umpire while playing an exhibition match in Dubai. While for most players, an exhibition match is a place to have fun, Kyrgios again did the same thing he has done many times in his career.

Kyrgios was not happy with a point umpire awarded to his opponent. He called the umpire out for the same. The Aussie arguing with umpires is not something new. Although a few times it is entertaining for the fans, repetitive offenses could put him in real trouble, especially in ATP tournaments.
