After the Australian Open, Daniil Medvedev found himself falling short in several tournaments. He faced defeats and early exits, which even caused him to fall out of the top 10 for the first time since 2019. However, he returned to his usual form quickly, reaching the final of one Masters and winning two, claiming his first clay title as well.

Medvedev’s following months were great as well. Tracy Austin, an American WTA legend, saw him perform up close in the US Open, where he beat Carlos Alcaraz to solidify his place in the finals.

Austin said, “This year at Flushing Meadows, I had the chance to sit in the front row and watch Daniil’s unorthodox strokes up close. The flight path of his ball is amazing. Like a laser, it comes at his opponents quick, hard and low. It was terrific to see Medvedev get back in the thick of things this year.

In the Canadian Open, Medvedev entered with great momentum on his side. However, the day did not favor him, as he saw himself being eliminated by Alex De Minaur in the quarterfinal. Regardless of the defeat, he kept his hopes up high as he said that Djokovic began in the same manner and faced different courts and balls all the time, but he still won many titles.

Daniil Medvedev went on to lose in the Cincinnati Masters in the second round, adding to his frustration. But he improved immensely in the short time in between and went on to reach the final of the US Open.
