Carlos Alcaraz, in a recent revelation, reflected on Novak Djokovic’s incredible feat of starting a staggering 400 weeks as World No. 1. Alcaraz acknowledged that the task of staying at the top for a remarkable 15 years, is something that he would be looking up to. His goals are clear, to surpass Djokovic and etch his name in history as the best.

However, the Spanish player admitted that it was a really big milestone, something that only the Serbian could have achieved in the game. The Spanish player looks all set to give in his everything and get to the top and overtake the Serbian.

“I’m motivated because I want to beat this guy. I want to be the best in history. I want to practice with a goal. I want to beat him. I want to win every tournament that I’m going to play. But at the same time, I will not think about it because it’s really, really difficult. It’s something that a legend from our sport could make it. It’s unbelievable what he’s doing, just breaking records, winning every tournament that he goes. It’s crazy,” said the Spanish player.

Thus, the Spanish player, who has already stunned everybody this year with his bold gameplay has his targets clear, to be the best in the world and end his career as a legendary figure in the sport, just like the Serbian Novak Djokovic. After being number 2 in the world, he would be willing to dethrone the Serbian as his first step to conquering greatness.

Alcaraz revealed his main goal in 2023

In another interview that followed, the Spanish player revealed the goal that he had set for the year. It was to overtake Novak Djokovic and clinch the top spot in the ATP rankings. However, that could not come to life after a series of disappointing results allowed him to settle for second place only.

For me, the #1 ranking is one of the main goals for me. In these great tournaments, I’m looking to do great to be able to be close or recover that number,” said Alcaraz in the interview.

Thus, regarded as one of the upcoming gems in tennis, the Spanish player has clear goals. Not only does he want to end the year on a high but also wants to have a very successful career and emulate the success that Djokovic has earned during his years as a professional tennis player.
