Now, as a fresh spectator, Federer reveals a surprising reality about seeing the game from a different perspective, with Alcaraz leading the charge in this new era of tennis.

In an interview straight out of the Laver Cup, Federer acknowledged his admiration for Carlos Alcaraz’s style of play while also disclosing that he had never witnessed the player in person. He stated, “I mean, for me, that’s when he showed like, okay, he’s the guy and he’s going to be around for a very long time. On the other hand, Carlos Alcaraz will continue to hone his craft by emphasizing shot selection above brute force. Roger Federer, meantime, has pledged to make amends to Alcaraz for not giving him the necessary recognition in the past. Federer recently declared that he would seek restitution during this week’s Laver Cup in Berlin, where Team Europe will take against Team World.

Further, Federer recalled that there was a time when he was washed to practice with Alcaraz but he choose his coach to practice, keeping the young Spaniard aside. He added, “I said, ‘No, it’s okay, I’d rather warm up with his coach, who was my generation, Juan Carlos Ferrero’. I can apologise to Carlos this week!”

Roger Federer, however, has shared his opinions on Team Europe and reaffirmed his trust in the team’s strength as Carlos Alcaraz makes his Laver Cup debut this year as a player of the same squad.
