Despite his injury nightmare, the 22-time Grand Slam champion has received some positive news for the 2024 Laureus Sports Awards.

Laureus recently announced the nominations for this year’s award ceremony. It included some of the top names in the sporting world like Lionel Messi and Mikaela Shiffrin. Even Nadal has a chance to claim this honor despite him not being on the list. Here’s how.

Along with honoring the top athletes across the globe, Laureus also recognizes some top sporting movements that have impacted the world. Rafael Nadal Foundation is one such organization that is tirelessly working to empower those in need through various activities. The Spaniard’s foundation was nominated for the Laureus Sport for Good award.

The organization uses sport and education to empower over 1,000 vulnerable young people in Spain and India. Along with the Rafael Nadal Foundation, other organizations and programs like Bola Pra Frente, ISF Cambodia, Dancing Grounds, Justice Desk Africa, and Obiettivo Napoli were also nominated.

Nadal, who has often been nominated for the Laureus Award, will be thrilled to find his organization among the reckoning to win an award this year. It stamps the authority that the movement is going in the right direction as desired. Despite immense success, Nadal has always remained down to earth, having a humble reason for launching his foundation.

Nadal has always tried to give back to society

A few years ago, Rafael Nadal’s foundation celebrated its 10th anniversary. During that occasion, the Spaniard revealed the reason behind coming up with his foundation.

Nadal said, “We celebrate 10 years, although it is a little longer. We decided to start with the Foundation 11 years ago. The reason is always to try to help, to give back to society for all the luck we have and how well life has treated us.”
