As the cheers of the Wimbledon crowds become memories, Andy Murray’s focus has shifted to the quieter yet equally fulfilling aspects of life. The British tennis star made a heartfelt revelation about his wife, Kim Sears, as he prepares to embark on a new chapter of his life.

Andy did not fail to recall some cheeky moments with his wife, Kim Sears. After his possible final clash at Wimbledon, he revealed an embarrassing moment about the time when Sears first came to watch her husband’s match. “The first match she came to watch with me live was at the US Open and I vomited twice in that match. Once right in front of her where she was sitting and then I stood up and vomited on my opponent’s racquet bag.”

Fortunately for him, Sears was not turned off by the act. “And she still seems to like me so I knew she was a keeper after that. She’s been an amazing, amazing support to me to, to my whole family, is the best mum.” The tennis great puked twice in his match against Andrei Pavel at the 2005 US Open before winning the match in an epic five-set encounter. 

The British tennis legend is playing the last season of his glorious career. Looking back on his career, he found it suitable to recall the first outing with his wife and expressed the support he had received from her. “I choked a little bit the first time when we went out and I walked, uh, we walked to the hotel and I asked her for her email address. I don’t think, uh (laughs), that’s a normal thing to do,” Murray said in the post-match presentation. 

Andy Murray played his last match at Wimbledon on Thursday alongside his brother Jamie Murray in the doubles segment. While the brothers could not pose enough challenge to their opponents and were handed a defeat in straight sets by their Australian Counterparts John Peers and Rinky Hijikata, 7(8)-6(6), 6-4, they went out with a smile.

As he spoke fondly about memories with his wife, he did not have similar memories with his brother. ‘Family man’ Andy Murray could not stop speaking about his family at his Wimbledon farewell, is not so fond of his brother’s tennis matches.

The Murray brothers have etched their names in tennis history with commendable achievements. Jamie Murray, the elder brother of Andy, is a doubles specialist and a former World No. 1 doubles player. He has seven doubles Grand Slam titles to his name, but unfortunately, that doesn’t excite his younger brother.  

Speaking to BBC after facing a defeat in Wimbledon, when asked how good a tennis watcher he is, Murray responded, “It depends who I’m watching. I hate watching my brother. I find it really difficult to watch my brother play.” However, he acknowledged that he loves watching tennis in general. “But yeah, I love tennis. I watch it all the time. I’d probably be more comfortable sitting up there in a coaching box than somewhere else.”

As the season progresses, seeing if the brothers reunite for the Paris Olympics and achieve what they couldn’t at the All-England Club will be interesting.
