Arguably one of the greatest tennis players of all time, Roger Federer is currently nursing a knee injury. Last year after the Wimbledon, Federer went through right knee surgery as it became a spot of bother for the Swiss star. Since then, we haven’t seen the Swiss Maestro on the tennis court.
Earlier, the 20-time Grand Slam champion talked about slowly getting back on his feet and recovering well. Federer mentioned why he had to undergo the surgery in a short interview he did at the Super-G ski event in Switzerland.

Roger Federer talked about his surgery
After undergoing the right knee surgery in August, he wasn’t able to move at all for many months. But slowly, he made a steady recovery and now just waiting to resume his practice on the tennis court again.
“The surgery was the right thing. The knee was no longer good after Wimbledon. It couldn’t go on like this. I’m fine. I walked on crutches for 2 months and had to start all over again. But it was the right thing. The knee was no longer good after Wimbledon. It couldn’t go on like this,” Roger revealed (Quotes translated using Google Translate).

“I’m in the process of rebuilding the whole thing and can now slowly think about my comeback. It will definitely take a while,” Federer further said about his comeback.
Can Federer win a Grand Slam again?
Even though Federer is recovering well, his comeback is still under the cloud. Earlier this year, he mentioned that making it to Wimbledon and the grass court season would be almost impossible.

After losing to Hubert Hurkacz in the Wimbledon quarter-final last year, many people had doubts over Federer’s possible comeback on the tour. Many thought that was his last match.
However, after the latest interview, he made it pretty clear that he’s eying for a comeback. Rafael Nadal‘s victory at the Australian Open might also play its part in bringing back Roger Federer on tour once again and fans will be hoping for the Swiss Maestro to get back on winning track.
