Today at the French Open final, Rafael Nadal claimed his 14th Roland Garros title and his 22nd Grand Slam title after beating the no.8 seed, Casper Ruud. It was a one-sided match, as Nadal beat the Norwegian in straight sets; the final score was 6-3 6-36-0.

Many fans on social media hailed the Spaniard, as he became the first male player on the planet to win 22 Grand Slam titles. Also, some of the current and former players congratulated the great man on Twitter.

Former American tennis star, Patrick McEnroe, took to Twitter and hailed the 36-year-old, Nadal as the greatest player on clay. He wrote, It’s really hard to imagine anyone EVER being like Mr @RafaelNadal…especially on red clay.

Former Australian tennis player, Rennae Stubbs, wrote, “CLINICA!!!! @RafaelNadal.

Laver Cup’s official Twitter handle wrote, Rafael Nadal claims a record-extending 14th #rolandgarros crown and 22nd Grand Slam Singles title.

Former American tennis player, Brad Gilbert tweeted, congrats Vamos-Rafa @RafaelNadal on amazing 14th @rolandgarros 22nd slam truly incredible.

Former South African Cricketer AB de Villiers wrote, “Just watched the most special tribute to Rafa Nadal on Supersport and realised all over again how special the man is. Also found out that Casper Ruud attended his academy and faces the master in the final today. Incredible! So, how good is Rafa’s academy then?”

After the French Open, many thought Nadal will take a long break from tennis to give proper rest to his foot, as reported by Marca. However, Nadal’s agent and PR team claimed those were false news, as Nadal will assess his foot after the French Open.
