Kevin Hart's reaction to Federer—selfish or just plain hilarious? What's your take?

The US Open quarterfinals match between Frances Tiafoe and Grigor Dimitrov drew a star-studded crowd, including tennis legend Roger Federer and comedian Kevin Hart. While Hart enjoyed the high-level tennis, he faced a challenge of his own: securing a clear view amidst the enthusiastic spectators. Later, on “The Tonight Show”, Hart shared his amusing experience with Jimmy Fallon.

The high-intensity battle, which abruptly ended with Dimitrov’s withdrawal citing injury concerns, had everyone guessing till the 2nd set. While Federer had a clear view of the match, enjoying every shot, Hart was stuck in the crowd, struggling to catch up with the match by shifting sides every second. Hart’s short stature (5-foot-5) was a disadvantage, as tall spectators blocked his view of the match.

When Hart visited Falcon’s “The Tonight Show,” his struggles in the stands were one of the talking points. The host showed the video of what could be considered “a play in two acts.” Both Hart and Fallon found the video hilarious. When asked by Fallon, “Did you know you were doing that?”, Hart admitted that he was completely oblivious due to his inability to see the match clearly. “Absolutely not. No. I gotta be 1000% honest. I couldn’t see!”

It seems that Hart spent his entire time in the stands, adjusting to the spectators sitting in front of him. As he complained about the same on the show, he further said, “I don’t know why he sat there. That was so selfish.” Unknowingly, someone robbed the comedian of an amazing tennis experience. Though Hart certainly made everyone laugh!

Well, talking about things on-court. The 20th seed Tiafoe advanced to the US Open semifinals when ninth-ranked Grigor Dimitrov suffered an injury in the third set and retired in the fourth set with the score at 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 4-1. Tiafoe and ritz have now set up an all-American US Open semifinal as compatriot Emma Navarro reached the women’s last four to boost home hopes of a title sweep.

Tiafoe also made the last four in 2022 while Fritz reached his first Grand Slam semifinal by defeating fourth-seeded Alexander Zverev 7-6 (7-2), 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3), the same opponent who is outclassed by his countrymen Fritz in the quarterfinals this year. Nonetheless, the American tennis star acknowledged the presence of both the guests gracing his match!

After the 20th seed Tiafoe put on a show for Federer, actor Hart and the 23,000 fans inside Arthur Ashe, he sat for a post-match conference and expressed his astonishment about Federer and Hart’s presence. He said, “That was pretty sick,” Tiafoe said when asked about Federer. “Obviously, I wasn’t thinking about it that much. [I was] more pumped about [actor] Kevin Hart instead of Roger, honestly!”

“The past couple of years at Laver Cup you kind of get used to that, seeing him in the stands. But this dude was different. Winning five years in a row,” he further said, referring to Federer’s consecutive US Open victories from 2004 to 08.

“The way he looked in the suit was the same way he looked when he was playing. No sweating. Tees like ironed perfect, hair perfect. What’s up with this dude, man? Hair perfect. So it was just funny man…But what a guy, what a legend.” This was not all, Tiafoe further added, “Seeing Kevin Hart was sick, honestly!”

Now Tiafoe is prepping himself to face his countryman, Taylor Fritz, in the semifinals on Friday. The American, who is No. 16 in the PIF ATP Live Rankings, revealed it has been a dream since they were teenagers for himself, Fritz and World No. 14 Tommy Paul to go deep at majors and compete for the biggest titles in the sport.

While Paul is no more in the race as he lost to Jannik Sinner in the R16, the other two Americans still have a chance to make it to their first career Slam final. Whoever of the two lifts the trophy(after beating the winner of Sinner vs Jack Draper clash) at the end will become the first American man since Andy Roddick did it in 2003. Who do you think has a better chance? Tiafoe or Fritz?
