Not only did he just win his first maiden ATP title, but he also had the legend, Roger Federer congratulate him personally. Kokkinakis won the Adelaide International 2, one of the tournaments in the build-up to the Australian Open. Additionally, his happiness was twofold, as he secured his maiden trophy in his home town, Adelaide.
In fact, things took a turn for the better, as the Swiss Maestro Roger Federer himself reached out to Kokkinakis to congratulate him on his victory.

Roger Federer congratulated Kokkinakis for his victory
It must be a special kind of happiness and awe that Kokkinakis felt when he saw Roger Federer himself text him on Instagram. Moreover, Federer even used his nickname, adding a personal touch to his praise.
Thanasi Kokkinakis took to Instagram today to share his thoughts on his maiden ATP tournament title. Naturally, the congratulations came pouring in from all over the world, with many fellow ATP stars joining in.
Subsequently, he shared a screenshot on his stories, wherein Roger Federer himself expressed his appreciation for his victory. “Maiden title at home big fella,” Federer’s message read.
In fact, Federer even called Kokkinakis by his nickname, telling him he loved “the sound of that Thanaser”. Then, Federer finished his praises by encouraging Kokkinakis. “Amazing… keep going,” the Maestro’s text read.

Furthermore, Kokkinakis himself captioned the post expressing his love for the 20-time Grand Slam champion. “He’s still the GOAT,” Kokkinakis wrote, using the goat emoji instead of the word itself.
The tennis fraternity congratulated Kokkinakis
Not just Roger Federer, but big names from the tennis community took to Instagram to congratulate Kokkinakis as well. Among them were legendary coach Patrick Mouratoglou and compatriot Nick Kyrgios as well.
Kokkinakis took to Instagram to celebrate his victory with a post, thanking “everyone involved in getting (him) there”. Among the comments were some big names congratulating him.
Popular Australian podcaster and impressionist Elliot Loney congratulated him with a string of emojis. Furthermore, ‘The Coach’ Patrick Mouratoglou himself wrote “Congratulations!!!” on the post, followed by a champagne emoji.

Perhaps the most interesting comment was from compatriot Nick Kyrgios, who wrote that he was proud “like a big brother”. “Even (though) you’re the one calming me down when we are out clubbing and people talk s**t,” Kyrgios joked.

Needless to say, there are many more titles on the horizon for the young star. He’ll be especially motivated by the prospect of ‘the goat’ praising him for his performances.
