Leonardo Mayer has announced his retirement from his tennis career at the age of 34. The Argentinian, after competing for almost 18 years has bid goodbye to the sport of tennis. Throughout his journey, Mayer captured 2 ATP singles titles, 1 ATP doubles title along with the Davis Cup trophy. Apart from that, he has put forth a few remarkable and memorable matches against some of the finest players in men’s tennis.

To the retirement news of Mayer, many tennis players, including Juan Martin Del Potro, paid homage to the Argentinian. Del Potro posted a touching message on the occasion of Mayer’s retirement. Moreover, tennis fans across the world also thanked Leonardo Mayer for his incredible career.

Del Potro congratulated his fellow Argentinian, Leonardo Mayer, on his amazing career after he announced his retirement from his professional career. He shared a picture with an emotional message on this occasion. He wrote,” Dear Leo, congratulations on your enormous career, a pleasure for me to have grown up together. I wish you the best in your new stage and thank you forever for Davis! I love you friend!”

Apart from their off-court friendship, both the players have played together as well as competed against each other. The pair played together at Davis Cup 2016 where Team Argentina gracefully lifted the title. On the other hand, in their head-to-head statistics, Juan Martin Del Potro leads Leonardo Mayer by a score of 2-1.
