Former tennis legend Paul McNamee heavily criticized a journalist for his article depicting Novak Djokovic wrongfully. This journalist wrote a bizarre analysis stating Djokovic’s relationship with Nick Kyrgios is a strategic policy to win against the latter in Wimbledon 2024. Now the analysis surely didn’t go well with many tennis legends including McNamee. This former world’s number-one in men’s doubles bashed the writer for bringing out such vague conspiracies to the fans.

Now the whole tennis fraternity knows Djokovic’s immense hard work and true skills at the age of thirty-six. There is no point for him to move to such a strategic decision against Australia’s Nick Kyrgios. As a result, McNamee including other tennis legends are visibly disappointed.

Recently McNamee tweeted in his official X (formerly Twitter) raising a criticism against the article that called Djokovic’s humble attitude towards Kyrgios a strategic bromance. McNamee wrote-“Hey Will, are you ok? You sure can write a good narrative, but there’s no conspiracy to get to #24  Tennis: Heard the one about Djoker playing Kyrgios for a fool? It might be one of the great stings | The Australian.”

Now this article expressed that Nick Kyrgios’s vicious attitude while playing against Djokovic is a true advantage for the latter. Since Kyrgios didn’t like Djokovic, the former’s aggression made his games more competitive. However, Djokovic is said to offer a polite and more humble attitude to Kyrgios to win him over. This was posed as Djokovic’s strategic move to beast Australia’s tennis star, Nick Kyrgios.

Now Paul McNamee being a tennis veteran and a Djokovic fan, totally nullified the theory. His tweet visibly judged the journalist’s ability to even grasp the talent of Novak Djokovic. However, although the theory is most certainly not true, instances of banter between Djokovic and Kyrgios can’t be denied.

Some glimpses of the banter between Nick Kyrgios and Novak Djokovic

Kyrgios revealed from the beginning that he never liked the Serbian tennis god much. Kyrgios’s comment “ a very strange cat” for Novak Djokovic expresses something similar. However, Djokovic has always been very humble to all of these comments. Once Kyrgios commented about Djokovic’s sensitive professional tennis period during Covid-19 as “a bonehead decision”  and the latter still remained calm in his response.

Nick Kygios also officially spoke about his dislike for Djokovic. He said- “This whole celebration thing (blowing kisses to the crowd) that he does after matches, it’s like, so cringe-worthy. We’re talking about a guy who pulled out of the Australian Open one year because it was too hot. No matter how many grand slams he wins, he will never be the greatest for me.”
