Fans are not at all pleased with Alexander Bublik‘s exclusion from the Laver Cup and criticize John McEnroe’s partial attitude toward some countries. Despite having a great professional year, the world’s former number twenty-five, Bublik was not selected for the Laver Cup tournament. In his recent confession, Bublik targetted Laver Cup’s Team World captain John McEnroe for this.

Now fans know well that John McEnroe has the power to select three out of six players for the Laver Cup tournament. Now in the Laver Cup, players participate in two teams, Team England and Team World. In the Team World, players can participate from any country except Europe. However, since its inaugural season in 2017, fans could tell that Team World mostly consisted of American tennis players. Now Bublik’s comment again makes fans quite angry over John McEnroe.

Alexander Bublik’s allegation against John McEnroe for the Laver Cup pissed off the fans

Bublik was quite straightforward while answering the interviewer about his exclusion from the tournament. He said- “It’s quite a complicated story. But John McEnroe seems to think that the World team is America, Canada, Australia and South America. Which may well be the case. At that time, Diego Schwartzman seemed to be No. 10 in the world – it was impossible not to take him. I have expressed a desire, I would like to play and I love team events. But for some reason, I am sure that “the world” is everyone who speaks English. I will be glad if he reads it (smiles).” 

Now it is not difficult for fans to understand to whom Bublik is pointing his disappointment at since John McEnroe is the Team World’s captain. In the format of the Laver Cup, player selection depends on either ATP rankings or the player’s true bond with the captains. Now Kazakhstani tennis player, Alexander Bublik’s current ATP rank is 33 and he even had a great 2023 Wimbledon.

Despite coming in the fourth runner-up position, the whole tennis fraternity was amazed by his performance. Now that he is not selected for the Laver Cup, fans are quite mad over this partial practice in the sport.

Fans express serious anger over Alexander Bublik’s exclusion from the Laver Cup

Since a source has posted Bublik’s comment on X (formerly Twitter), fans are expressing super madness over the biased selection of players in the tournament. One fan directly wished for McEnroe and Borg to retire from their captaincy. He said- “They need to change the captains. Thought McEnroe and Borg would step down after this year?” 

Fans supported Bublik’s criticism and commented- “Agree! Last Team World was basically Team Americas. If you’re gonna call it Team World, how about having at least one from each continent. Bublik could have represented Asia.” 

The majority truly believed that American and Canadian players were partially selected in the Laver Cup. So, they lost their interest in this tournament. One fan said- “I’ve been thinking the same, that team world is apparently “team America (North + South America + Canada) plus Australia. But Laver cup is not the same anymore after RF and Nadal gone, so I don’t care much about this event now but hope ppl who like this event can still enjoy it.” Everybody raised support for the Kazakhstani tennis star.

People sarcastically also wished for the Laver Cup’s Team World to be more inclusive.

Alexander Bublik’s comment shed light on the biased tennis practices. However, with so many fans supporting his opinion, The Laver Cup committee might soon respond to the fans’ wishes and welcome Asian players to the tournament.
