“Sinner won’t be that vulnerable,” is how Paul Annecone praised Jannik Sinner, drawing strong similarities to the prime state of tennis legend Novak Djokovic. The young Italian currently sits on top of the game with two grand slams and several other titles in the ongoing season. While the Big Three era is something that people of the sport can still not forget, a former Italian pro honored Sinner by comparing him to none other than the King of Clay.
Former Italian tennis legend Adriano Panatta praised Jannik Sinner’s extraordinary performance against Daniil Medvedev at the ATP Finals. Speaking after Sinner’s dominant win, Panatta said, “A match that never happened because it lasted just over an hour. What do we want to talk about?” Delving into the technical details of his performance, the Italian compared his dominance to that of Rafael Nadal‘s. “I don’t remember such dominance. Maybe Nadal had the same impact on clay, but every now and then during the year he stumbled against a world number 20 or 30. Sinner never makes mistakes. Only Alcaraz can beat him, but only if he’s at 110% form. Such an evident demonstration of superiority is something impressive,” he added.
Jannik Sinner defeated Medvedev 6-3, 6-4 in just an hour and 13 minutes. He also secured the top spot in the Ilie Nastase Group and advanced to the semi-finals with this win. The home favorite completed the group stage undefeated, with earlier victories over Alex de Minaur and Taylor Fritz.

Sinner reflected on his progress this year and his mindset at the tournament. “I’m trying to find new ways to improve as a player. I’m trying to win as many matches here as I can. Me and Daniil, we know each other very well. So, every time we step on court, we try to change something tactically. I felt like I was ready to see what he was going to do today. I know what I have achieved during this year, so I try to step on court with a good mindset. I have beautiful people around me who support me daily, which for me is really important. Let’s see what’s coming in the next round.”
Sinner is set to face the runner-up from the John Newcombe Group, Casper Ruud in the semifinals. Alexander Zverev will be taking on Taylor Fritz to determine the final standings.

Jannik Sinner continued his remarkable form at the ATP Finals with a commanding 6-4, 6-4 win over Taylor Fritz. Playing in front of an electrified home crowd in Turin, world no. 1 Sinner faced a strong challenge from the American. Fritz pushed Sinner to his limits and appeared to gain the upper hand at critical moments. However, Sinner’s consistency and relentless brilliance allowed him to emerge victorious in a tough contest. After the match, Sinner admitted the battle was intense. “In the return positions his quality of tennis was very, very high so I was struggling to return his serve but I was happy with the situation it was a very important day for me today and I’m very happy that I got through,” he said, in a post-match interview.
This win marked Sinner’s 47th hard-court victory in 2024. This number includes his triumphs at the Australian Open and the US Open earlier this year. He joined an elite list of players to achieve this milestone, becoming only the third in the Open Era to win 47 or more hard-court matches in consecutive seasons. Roger Federer first accomplished this feat in 2005 and 2006 during his dominant years. Novak Djokovic replicated it in 2012 and 2013, later repeating the achievement in 2015 and 2016. Sinner’s consistency places him in the company of two of the greatest players in tennis history and he has a long career waiting ahead. What do you think of Jannik Sinner’s chances in Finals?
