After hailing Jannik Sinner as possibly the next Novak Djokovic, the Aussie tennis star Nick Kyrgios makes a new request to the new AO champion. He asked Sinner how much would he have to pay him to help him win his first Grand Slam title. What did Sinner say in reply?

The 22-year-old Italian star laughed at this surprising request before showering his admiration for the 28-year-old Australian. Jannik Sinner has drawn a lot of praise over the last few hours for his incredible performance at the first Grand Slam of the season. He made a stellar comeback against Daniil Medvedev from two sets down to win the final by 3-6,3-6,6-4,6-4,6-3 on Sunday.

Jannik Sinner wants Nick Kyrgios to be back on court – ‘hope you’re getting back soon’

Kyrgios has been out of action for quite a while due to a knee injury. He played only one match last year and underwent knee surgery just ahead of the Australian Open. But Kyrgios has made his presence felt to all his fans from the commentary box since late 2023. Here’s what the Eurosport said to Jannik Sinner after the match.

He initially asked Sinner, “How much can I pay you to be my coach so I can win a Grand Slam? Can you do it for free please?” The Italian laughed at this strange question and finally agreed to do it for free for his Aussie friend. Then he went on to showcase his admiration for Nick Kyrgios.

Sinner further added, “Since everyone is missing you. I mean you are the kind of player that we don’t see around so often, you know, your game style and also your way of how to behave on the court. You’re different, and these are the kinds of players we need. So, I hope you’re getting back soon.”

Jannik Sinner then recalled his brief chat with Nick Kyrgios ahead of his second-round match at the AO. “I’m missing you. I think we talked a little bit before my second-round match, I saw you there, and it was a great emotion to see you. So hope to see you back as soon as possible and you’re also a potential Grand Slam champion. And I think you know it, so keep it up,” Jannik Sinner.

Sinner not only ended Djokovic’s 33-match unbeaten run at the Australian Open but also became the first Italian to win the Australian Open. He is also the third Italian man to win a singles title at a Grand Slam. What did Kyrgios say more about this rising talent from Innichen, Italy?

Kyrgios makes a big prediction for Sinner

He said that Sinner has been in the limelight since last year. Kyrgios looked impressed with the Italian’s maturity and he said that he had never seen such a matured mind in any youngsters in the Tour. Then he gave his prediction for Jannik Sinner for his 2024 season.

Kyrgios added, “But I mean, I did predict that he’s gonna be the new Slam champion in 2024. I think we’re gonna see him win plenty of more Slams in the next couple of years. I think he’s gonna be unstoppable.” Can Jannik Sinner win more Grand Slam titles this year? What are your thoughts on this?
