Are Alcaraz and Sinner the new kings of tennis, or do the Big 3 still reign supreme?

There was an era when tennis was purely dominated by the Big 3, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic and the likes of them. However, with their era coming to an end now, Carlor Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have stepped up and taken the baton from them. At the moment, both of them have made themselves rather difficult to deal with. Even Taylor Fritz couldn’t help but acknowledge their on-court strength.

Taylor Fritz shared insight into why Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz are so difficult to beat regardless of the surface. In a recent interview with Tennis Channel, Fritz highlighted the players’ incredible defensive skills adding that they do not actually play much defense in the traditional sense. He also noted their unique ability to handle tough situations. The American said, “Their defense is like when they’re full on the run on the corners, they just crush the ball.”

Fritz elaborated their aggressive style mentioning how both Sinner and Alcaraz can turn defense into offense with lightning speed. “I can be on a back and cross rally with either one of them. If I get around one pull forehand inside in or pull back in, it’s gotta be so good or else the next ball is getting drilled like huge cross court.

He also compared their rallies with those of legends, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. But he suggested that Sinner and Alcaraz are playing much faster. “When Sinner and Alcaraz do it, I swear they’re doing the same rallies but hitting the ball 10MPH faster,” Fritz said suggesting the speed and power that set them apart.

Fritz’s apt description of their game style is visible in the head-to-head records as well. Carlos Alcaraz has a firm 2-0 head-to-head lead against the American. On the other hand, Jannik Sinner has a 2-1 lead over him. The only win for Fritz came 3 years back in 2021. Regarding these two as the current best, Taylor Fritz once also revealed who according to him is the real tennis GOAT.

“In terms of achievement it’s Novak, it feels like Fed,” he told the ATP’s YouTube channel before repeating. Interestingly, Taylor Fritz has a record against the Djoker that probably no one would want to have. Fritz has played the Serbian 10 times but hasn’t been able to at least once.

Simply put, as per the American, while Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are the current best, the incredible trio of the Big 3 are probably the best of all time. What do you think about Fritz’s opinion? Do let us know in the comments below!
