In his final competitive match, Roger Federer will take the court at the Laver Cup later today, the 23rd of September. The Swiss legend’s legion of devoted followers are counting down the seconds for him to swing his racket one last time and retire as one of the best players tennis has witnessed.

The twenty-time Grand Slam winner seemed to be thrilled about participating in the Laver Cup. He posted a clip of himself stretching the night before the game in London.
Roger Federer having a good time at the Gala dinner
In the footage posted to Instagram, the Swiss ace can be seen playing ping pong with Diego Schwartzman. “Just a quick warmup for the Gala,”?he captioned it.
This prompted some amusing responses from the audience, with one person quoting “James Bond playing ping pong.” The tennis ace, however, got a lot of positive feedback from his global fan base after posting that snippet.
A fan wrote, “The Greatest of All Time: Roger “James Bond” Federer!” while another admired the skills of the Swiss Maestro and wrote, “Roger about to become the GOAT at ping pong in his retirement.”

Federer will play for Team Europe alongside Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Andy Murray. Bjorn Borg, a former tennis great, will captain the squad throughout the three-day competition.
The “Big 4” gearing up for their last run at the O2 Arena
On Thursday at London’s O2 Arena, the four tennis titans who have become one of the most recognizable quartets in sports practiced their craft. With his retirement soon approaching, arguably one of the greatest athletes of all time, Roger Federer, has made this Laver Cup the subject of much attention.

The reunion of the ‘Big Four’ is another factor keeping the audience interested. The ‘Big Four’ were observed having a fantastic time chatting and laughing with each other when they weren’t rehearsing.

On Friday, the former world No. 1 will play in his last match on the ATP Tour with Rafael Nadal, his fierce competitor and close friend. It is not the first time the pair has participated in the Laver Cup competition. In 2017, Federer and Nadal competed in this cup, and they were victorious over Sam Querrey and Jack Sock, who were representing Team World. On the other hand, Frances Tiafoe and Sock will be their opponents this time.
