The life of former German tennis ace Boris Becker took a sharp turn this year. After fighting a legal battle on allegations of hiding assets and faking bankruptcy, he received a sentence of two and a half years in April. Since then Becker has been in prison in the UK.

However, unlike other inmates, he keeps touching the headlines regularly. Earlier, the news of the three-time champion enjoying the Wimbledon Championships from jail surfaced. This time, Becker has reportedly landed a job while in prison which has caused resentment among his fellow inmates.
Boris Becker under the microscope again
The fallen tennis star recently received the role of a classroom assistant. He teaches PE theory and the benefits of diet and exercise to cons who are majorly foreigners at the jail.
However, the issue with this arrangement is that the 54-year-old hasn’t spent enough time in jail to enjoy such a sought-after position. One insider said, “You would normally serve years before getting a job as a classroom assistant as it is seen as a privilege.”
“But Becker has been given the job within weeks of being sentenced. There is a lot of resentment about it and the families of some prisoners have written letters of complaint.”?

The two-time?Australian Open?champion concealed a hefty sum of around ?2.5 million. He shuffled his assets amongst his ex-wife Barbra and estranged wife Lily and kept his shares in a tech firm under the covers to fake bankruptcy in 2017. This allowed Becker to evade ?50 million worth of creditors’ money over an unpaid estate in Majorca.
Becker to leave England
The former world number one is currently serving his sentence in the category C prison, near Henley-on-Thames in Oxfordshire and is looking forward to early release under the Government?s Early Removal Scheme. However, the resident of England since 2012 will not be able to return to his home. As he never applied for citizenship.

Novak Djokovic‘s ex-coach is still a foreigner by law. Therefore, he will face similar consequences to any other non-British law offender. As per the Home Office, any foreigner who serves a jail term of over 12 months is bound to suffer automatic deportation from the country. Thus Becker’s next stop after the sentence will be back to his native Germany. Further, he is hoping to reach Germany by November, and is expecting softer treatment from the German penal system thereafter.
