Andre Agassi was deeply troubled by his anger issues
The couple first met in 1993 and fell in love by sending long, touching faxes while filming in South Africa. They bonded over their shared experiences with abusive parents and childhood stars. Shields felt protected by Andre Agassi but also controlled at times.
In his memoir, Andre Agassi was cited, “Of course, I’ve watched Brooke kiss men onstage before. This is different. This is over the line. I don’t pretend to know where the line is, but hand licking is definitely over it.”

Agassi later fell into a rage and broke and destroyed every single trophy he had won, including Wimbledon and the US Open. He further wrote, “Hour later I open my eyes. I survey the damage as if someone else is responsible — and it’s true. It was someone else. The someone who does half the [expletive] I do.”
Agassi sorted help and care for his anger issues
Andre Agassi proceeded to clean up his behaviour. He met various psychiatrists and sought rehabilitation. He had committed his return to elite tennis, and that’s exactly what he got. Agassi completed his Grand Slam run in the Open Era. He won three more Australian Open titles in 2000, 2001 and 2003, bringing his total to eight major titles.
