Stan Wawrinka’s form on the tour has been patchy since his comeback from injury. He suffered yet another blow at the 2022 Roland Garros, as the 2015 champion suffered a first-round loss to Corentin Moutet. Even though the Swiss player was outplayed by the Frenchman, he received heavy support and love from his fans worldwide. However, as is the case on social media these days, a number of users also turned to abusive reactions following his loss.

Stan Wawrinka’s thoughts on social media hatred
Stan Wawrinka is one of the many athletes who are active in social media. Using his handles, the 3-time Grand Slam champion gives regular insights into his personal as well as professional life. While the 37-year-old uses his social media handles with utmost positivity, he often falls prey to hate comments.
However, Stan isn’t often affected by such messages. Even though he admits that such messages are difficult to read, he prefers to focus on the positive aspects of social media.
Talking to the press, he said, “I’m not moved by the negative messages on social media, I just don’t look at them. If I’m on a social network I’ll take the positive messages. I get a lot of support, a lot of positive messages from my fans, I’m lucky to have fans. It’s difficult to read bad messages, but it doesn’t really move me.”

Going back, one can think of some unique social media updates by the Swiss star. The former World No. 3 publicly uploaded hate messages he used to receive as direct messages in his social media handles. Opening up about the reason behind him uploading such messages, Wawrinka asserted the importance of highlighting that person’s negativity.
However, he stuck to the point that it doesn’t move him.“Insults, yes. Not because it moves me, but to highlight the fact that that person or these persons are writing actual insults. But apart from that it doesn’t move me,” he said.

Taking his record into consideration, several people place bets and when things don’t go their way, it results in the form of abusive reactions on social media. Same was the case with Wawrinka at this year’s Roland Garros.
When asked to share his thoughts about the same, he said, “I know it can be very violent for many, for a lot of people in the world, because there can be a lot of violence everywhere in the world, but it doesn’t get to me, I must say.”
