John McEnroe wants Novak Djokovic to play at the US Open 2022
In a recent interview with Tennis365, the former American player said, “I mean, we have to find a way to get Novak into the US Open. How can he not be there? He has just won Wimbledon, he is a great champion and he should be in the US Open.”
However, McEnroe did not agree with Djokovic‘s decision to not get vaccinated. “I don’t agree with his decision not to get vaccinated, but I respect it. He is one of the fittest guys in the world and everything he puts into his body, he is watching carefully. Now we are saying that because of his choice, he can’t play at the US Open,” he added more.
After the Australian Open debacle earlier this year, the former American player doesn’t want the same thing to happen to Djokovic. “I hope someone finds a way to sort this out. It’s crazy that Novak misses the US Open at this stage,” he concluded.
Fans are signing petitions to let Djokovic play at US Open 2022
Not just McEnroe, many fans also supported the Serb’s participation at the US Open this year. Moreover, thousands of fans signed a petition asking the US government to permit the 21-time grand slam winner to play.

Previously, plenty of politicians also spoke in favor of the Serb’s participation. Notably, US Open entered Djokovic’s name at the competition, but they also have to follow the rules of the government. Earlier, during the Indian Wells, Djokovic’s name was on the entry list too, as they were waiting for an official withdrawal from the Serb.
As things stand, Djokovic will most likely miss the US Open and end the year with one Grand Slam title.
