Holger Rune has made an interesting revelation about the hectic schedule of tennis players due to so many prestigious cups. Now Rune can’t be blamed! This year the audience spotted Sinner’s amazing performance in the Davis Cup finals, days after his loss against Djokovic at the Nitto ATP finals. The schedule itself showed the immense pressure on players. Now Rune also commented that the off-season in tennis is no longer helpful for players.

The Davis Cup ended on the 26th of November, which means just a few weeks left for the next season to start. In these weeks, players sign up for exhibitions as well. Therefore, Rune explains how the stress is always bulging on the players due to improper scheduling.

Holger Rune dissatisfied with the stressful tennis tournament schedules

In a recent podcast, Rune talked about how the packed schedule of tournaments is causing players to have less time to recover. In the podcast hosted by Jimmy Connors, the duo delved into how the yearly schedule is making things difficult for players.

Rune said “It is crazy. It’s too crazy. If you asked me, and I’m young, I’m fine. But it is very, very packed. And especially, you know, finishing with Davis Cup. So it’s really crazy to play on us every week. Again, it’s about trying to schedule, you know, the season, the best possible way for me, you know, for the upcoming season, I think it’s important to have a good team around you that knows which tournament you need to peek in, and which moments of the season your body needs more rest. So yeah, it’s a whole puzzle.”

With Stefanos Tsitsipas‘ injury causing him to walk out of the ATP tournament, understanding the necessity for players to have some time between tournaments is important. Rune also highlighted that having a good team around is helpful for players to get back on their feet after a few tedious matches.
