Nick Kyrgios, the Australian tennis star, had a fun outing today in the John Cain Arena. His match against British qualifier Liam Broady was pure box office entertainment. From underarm serves to tweeners, it had everything and the crowds sure had fun during the match. Nick even pulled a Cristiano Ronaldo celebration in front of the home crowd and had some beer from a member of the crowd.

Interestingly, at the press conference, a reporter asked Nick about his relationship with Novak Djokovic after the Australian consistently showed support for Novak during his trouble with the Australian authorities.

Could Nick Kyrgios and Novak Djokovic play doubles?

During the recent controversy of Novak Djokovic’s visa cancellation case, Nick Kyrgios supported Novak throughout. Nick even said that Novak personally messaged him and thanked him for the support. In the past, Nick and Novak had many differences of opinion.

This time, Nick’s support towards Novak caught everyone off guard. “Me and Novak had some differences in the past. I defended Novak like I would do with someone else in his position. (…) but we have a bit of a bromance going on at the moment so I won’t complain,” Kyrgios said at the press conference.

Then the Australian joked about playing doubles with Djokovic, as he said, “With Djokovic, it’s a new bromance (laugh), I could ask him to play doubles.”

Nick put on a show in the Australian Open

Known as one of the entertainers of the game, Nick Kyrgios didn’t disappoint his fans in the match against Liam Broady in the first round. He beat Broady by 6-4, 6-4, 6-3 but the match had so many entertaining moments.

In the first set, Nick produced an outrageous underarm through the legs serve which got the crowd going. Then, in the second set, the Australian hit a tweener, and on both occasions, he won the point, which is even more incredible. Nick’s biggest weapon is his serve, and it was impeccable once again with 21 aces, as opposed to Liam’s 6.
