Great news for tennis fans all over the world, as 21-time Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal is returning to the tennis court very soon. The Spaniard won his second Australian Open title after beating Daniil Medvedev in the final. Thus, he became the only man on this planet to win 21 Grand Slam singles titles.

Since then, many fans have been wondering about Rafa’s next tournament. It looks like they don’t have to wait that long, as Rafa recently announced that he will be participating in Indian Wells in California.

Rafael Nadal is all set to play at the Indian Wells

Recently, Rafael Nadal announced he will play at the Indian Wells Masters, also known as BNP Paribas Open after almost three years. Nadal last played at the Indian Wells back in 2019, where he withdrew from his match against Roger Federer in the semi-final. 

Speaking about his comeback this year, Nadal is looking forward to it, as he said, “For me it will be even more special returning this year after missing the tournament in October. See you soon in the tennis (and golf) paradise, Indian Wells.”

After this announcement, his fans, particularly in the United States, will be delighted with the news. Speaking about fans, Nadal also said, “The fans are great and knowledgeable about tennis, and they really make me feel special when playing and everywhere I go.”

Nadal’s record at the Indian Wells

Last year, Nadal missed the Indian Wells Masters because of his foot injury. In 2020, the tournament didn’t take place because of Covid. This year, Nadal has a great chance to win his fourth BNP Paribas Open after winning the Australian Open.

Previously, the Spaniard has won the event three times and has a pretty good winning record here. The last time Nadal won here was back in 2013 and this is one of his favorite tournaments.

Interestingly, Nadal also won a doubles tournament here twice, partnering with Marc Lopez. However, many people still remembered their semi-final match against Roger Federer and Stan Wawrinka in 2011.
