Chinese tennis star Zhang Zhizhen is electrifying the French Open! Dominating the Roland Garros round two with a hard-fought four-set victory against Lorenzo Sonego, Zhang stormed into the third round. While his on-court dominance takes center stage, fans are also eager to delve into his personal life. One question keeps popping up: who is the mystery woman by his side? Is Zhang Zhizhen married? The answer is yes, but the identity of his wife remains a veiled secret.

Currently ranked 93 in the world, the 27-year-old player has already tied the knot with Zhang Sihao very recently. Although the exact date of their marriage remains a mystery, it has been known that it happened recently. Zhizhen encountered a major success in his career in 2022 and finally broke through the top 100 men’s world rankings. On top of that, he also became China’s top male tennis player too. Therefore, it indeed called for some celebration. 

However, Zhang Zhizhen took it upon himself to make it even more special when he returned to his hometown, Shanghai, after his hard-earned success. He married his longtime girlfriend, Sihao. However, according to Chinese people, Zhizhen’s current state is “receiving a certificate,” which means that the wedding is not entirely done. 

Zhizhen gave a fair explanation of the whole situation, stating, “I originally planned to hold a wedding at the end of the year, but now I can’t plan it in advance. With my professional characteristics and the isolation policy, if I can’t go back in time, the wedding can only be postponed.”  Even during the first year of their marriage, Zhang Zhizhen had to fulfill his commitment to tennis.

He has been playing back-to-back tournaments on the ATP tour, starting with the Australian Open this year. After competing in 11 back-to-back tournaments, the French Open is his 12th station in the season. And he has no plan of returning anytime soon. However, Sihao, who has also played tennis as a kid, has his back during the intense schedule.

The newlywed couple has managed to find their own rhythm amid the tight schedules. Sihao, who parents multiple pets along with his husband, has supported him throughout his journey. And Zhang Zhizhen never shied away from acknowledging that. “My wife is really not easy,” said Zhang.

“I couldn’t accompany her in the first year of marriage. She not only understands me but also supports me,” the former World No. 42 revealed. But the tight schedule, that too abroad, is indeed a problem for them, as he continued and added, ”I can rest assured to work hard outside, and the problem is still there. Not much.”

But Zhizhen hopes to make his mark in the tennis world this season by reaching greater heights in his career. But in times of need, he has his priorities clear. “If my wife calls me back, I will definitely agree to her. Family is the most important thing; after all, tennis is a part of my life, and my wife is the one who accompanies me throughout my life.”
