French ATP star Ugo Humbert‘s incredible run in the Happy Slam is not just for his talent. It has also been realized by those people who stood by him like a pillar of strength. In the list, his tennis player girlfriend appears in a significant position, whose contribution to the ATP star’s career goes beyond mental support. Blurring the lines between personal and professional partnership, Humbert’s girlfriend steals the spotlight with an important question: Is she actively involved in the Frenchman’s growth, or is there more to the story?

Humbert advanced to the Australian Open‘s fourth round with an impressive victory over fellow Frenchman Arthur Fils in four sets by 4-6, 7-5, 6-4, and 1-0 at John Cain Arena. On his way, he had defeated Lebanon’s Hady Habib in the second round and Italy’s Matteo Gigante in the first. And as his campaign gained momentum, attention shifted to those influencing his success, Humbert’s coaches, Fabrice Martin, and Jeremy Chardy, as well as his girlfriend, Tessah Andrianjafitrimo, a former tennis player who has played a crucial role in his career progress. Chardy, a former player, who started working with Humbert in July 2022, has helped him secure titles such as the 2023 Moselle Open and the 2024 Dubai Open. However, during the Open 13 Provence in Marseille, Chardy couldn’t attend the ATP star’s matches due to other commitments. It was then Humbert’s the talented Andrianjafitrimo, who stepped in as the ATP number 14’s mentor.

Humbert’s girlfriend Andrianjafitrimo is no ordinary player but a six-time ITF singles and a two-time doubles champion. She reached her career-high ranking of 139 in June 2022. Andrianjafitrimo played her debut Grand Slam tournament at the 2015 French Open. Apart from playing on the court, she has developed a passion for coaching. One of her most recognizable students? Her beau, Ugo Humbert. The couple first met in their teenage years and began dating, though details of their relationship remain largely private. Some sources confirm they were together from a young age, briefly separated in 2020, and rekindled their romance last year. Now, Andrianjafitrimo plays a key role in Humbert’s professional journey.

Reflecting on this unique dynamic, Humbert told Express Sport, “I’m the world No. 14 but hired my girlfriend to coach me—she’s not afraid to be honest.” The ATP star credited his success in Dubai and Marseille as the inspiration for bringing his belle Andrianjafitrimo into his team. Their relationship – simultaneously personal and professional – has drawn admiration from the fraternity worldwide. Speaking about how Humbert and Andrianjafitrimo balance love and work, the ATP star revealed that she knows him so well that she can tell him anything. “That’s why I love her, because she can talk to me and tell me the truth. Sometimes it’s difficult, but I really like it—it’s better to improve,” Humbert revealed.

While Humbert openly praises his girlfriend’s contribution to his success, Andrianjafitrimo has found her own way of guiding him. Her take on Humbert’s mentorship ensures their professional partnership only strengthens their bond rather than complicating it. But, how does Andrianjafitrimo maintain it?

Humbert’s relationship with his girlfriend Andrianjafitrimo is deeply rooted in “honesty”. Reflecting on her role as Humbert’s mentor, Andrianjafitrimo admitted that coaching her partner came with unique challenges, especially since she wasn’t physically present on the court. She revealed that she is always careful not to upset her partner, and yet she has learned to “switch” her mindset to stay focused on what truly matters.

Andrianjafitrimo also accepted that because their professional partnership revolves around tennis, it has become “the most important part” of their lives, making them incredibly serious about their respective roles. As Humbert’s coach, her job is not to be nice or act like his girlfriend at all times, but to provide honest feedback that benefits the Frenchman. “Tactics were not from me. When I needed, I texted Jim, or he sent me messages during the match, so I had my phone open on WhatsApp the whole match,” she revealed.
