Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios has had a bittersweet 2022 so far. He started the in great fashion as he won the Australian Open doubles event with Thanasi Kokkinakis. Then he had a torrid time in the USA, particularly at the Indian Wells and the Miami Open. He grabbed a lot of headlines after his constant arguments with multiple chair umpires. As a result, he received some hefty fines from the ATP. After that, he played in the Houston challenger, the clay-court tournament. Which intrigued many fans about his potential participation in the French Open 2022. So, is he playing the French Open this year?

Nick Kyrgios talks about returning to Roland Garros in 2023
Earlier, in an interview, Nick Kyrgios revealed that he will play in the French Open in 2023. According to him, his girlfriend has never seen Paris, so he will travel to the French Capital and will play the Grand Slam a year from now. Earlier, he played in Houston, and speaking about that, he said, “Correct, this will be my only clay tournament of the year.”
“Next year, I am gonna go to Paris. I’m announcing that now. I’m going to the French Open… I haven’t played that in four years. So, I’ll be back next year,” Kyrgios said earlier in April.
“My girlfriend just wants to see Paris. So yeah, I mean I’ll just play the French Open as well,” the Aussie further revealed why he wants to play the French Open next year.

“Well, we kind of already decided to go home and have that time. You know, we just working towards that. The time at home is crucial because the next trip is three months. That time at home is so valuable… we’re both very family-orientated so we have to make sure that circle remains tight,” Kyrgios further talked about the reason he’s not participating in this year’s French Open.
Kyrgios is ready for the Grass court season
So far, the Aussie star played some unbelievable matches on the tour at the Miami Open and Indian Wells. Despite not playing on clay court, he showed some great tennis in Houston, reaching the semi-final of that tournament. Also, he faced a lot of controversies for unsportsmanlike conduct during the US tour.

Now, he would want to forget all that and focus on the Grass court season ahead. It’s already confirmed that he will take part in Stuttgart at an ATP 250 event, one of the very first tournaments to kick start the grass-court season. Previously, on many occasions, he entertained the Center Court crowd with his outrageous tennis. No one will forget his unbelievable win against Rafael Nadal in the fourth round at Wimbledon in 2014.

If he can focus on his game, he will pose some serious threats to some of the top seeds in the tournament.
