Yes, it is right, Denis Shapovalov is also a professional rapper. Known by the artist name ‘Shapo‘, the Canadian athlete has been dropping both, serves and bars. Back in the year 2020, he unveiled his debut track, ‘Night Train.‘ The song was produced by DJ Mad Linx and Luke Leveille.
In the song, Shapovalov spits verses on the grind of being a pro athlete. Not only this, he walks people through everything, from endorsement deals to online trolls. ‘Slower than a ‘rrari, that’s a no go/Swoosh on my feet, that’s a logo.’

While talking about the main motivation for making music ideas, he suggested that it was during the pandemic. Shapovalov at that time, looked at his friend and professional tennis player Corentin Mourtet who was also producing music. ‘I saw Corentin was releasing a lot of music, so I figured why not get on a track with him.’
While talking about the song, Shapo adds, ‘I actually think it’s a really cool song.’ So, Denis Shapovalov is also a part-time rapper apart from being a professional tennis player. While tennis remains his top priority, it is his love for music that made him follow his passion for making a song.
While revealing his love for music, Shapovalov revealed how he is just following his passion and not trying to be the next big thing in the hip-hop industry.

Shapovalov suggested that he does not want to be the next big thing in hip-hop industry
In an interview back then, he revealed that he was following his love for music and not doing it just to become the next big thing in the industry. Not only this, he suggested that he has been doing these things for a while now and that he had the material, he wanted this to reach out to people to see if they like it or not!
“I’m not trying to be the next great hip-hop artist,” Shapovalov said in an interview. “I’m just doing it because I have a passion for music. I honestly just love sharing what I feel, putting it onto beats, and rhyming it. I figure I’ve been doing it for a while and got some material, so why not post it out to the world and see if people like it?”
