Speaking of personalities in the world of tennis, there is probably no one as volatile and as polarizing as Nick Kyrgios. Despite being skilled and talented on the court, his tempestuous and unpredictable bearing has more often than not come in the way of his success. His on-court antics and off-court tantrums have many times in his career overshadowed his achievements as a player. However, the 28-year-old Australian has never been afraid of portraying his animated side.

Currently out of action because of injury woes, Kyrgios is enjoying time away from the court. In his latest interactive session with fans from his Instagram handle, he took a jibe at the computer-generated ranking system of the ITF in his usual animated way.

The 2022 Wimbledon finalist was seen in his usual uninhibited persona in his latest Q&A session with his followers on his Instagram profile. He informed his fans that he would be going on an ‘overseas’ trip very soon. And before he takes off, he wanted to conduct an ‘ask away’ session with his followers through his Instagram stories, where he would be interacting with the fans. During the interaction, one of his followers pointed out that Kyrgios is still in the top 30 of the ATP rankings despite failing to take part in any professional tournament this year.

Reacting to this in one of his Instagram stories, Kyrgios jokingly used an Iron Man filter to express wonder about his current ATP rankings, also taking a sly jibe at the computer-generated ranking system. He wrote, “Lol the ranking system is a joke”.

Perhaps it is this unapologetic nonchalance of Kyrgios that makes him likable in the eyes of many of his fans. Currently placed at number 24 in the ATP world rankings despite being out of action for a number of months, he hopes to make a successful comeback to the tour pretty soon.

Nick Kyrgios played his last professional tournament in October last year at the Japan Open. He pulled out from his home major, the Australian Open, because of a knee injury that forced him to undergo surgery. He has struggled to get back to full fitness ever since. It was originally thought that he had to withdraw from Roland Garros due to his knee not recovering in the expected timeframe.

But it was recently revealed that his return to the court had to be pushed back further because of a foot injury he sustained during the theft of his car last month. He ended up lacerating his left foot amid the rush of events at the time of the unfortunate incident.
