Fasten your seatbelts as America’s number one, Taylor Fritz, is all set to take on the top-ranked Chilean, Alejandro Tabilo, in the R32 of the 2025 Indian Wells Open. Tabilo has had a horrid start to his season this year, losing each of his first matches in his previous tournaments. However, he has gotten off to a winning start in Indian Wells! Can he now overcome this massive hurdle in the next round?
Fritz, the 2022 champion, also secured a victory over the Italian Matteo Gigante in the Round of 64. “I had not touched a racket for two weeks, so I couldn’t expect much today. The best news is that I played without thinking about my oblique injury even once,” the World No. 4 said, reflecting on his performance. Can he keep the momentum going? Who will win this epic battle in the R32?

Taylor Fritz vs Alejandro Tabilo: Preview
Taylor Fritz’s best record this season was reaching the QF at the Delray Beach Open. Apart from that, he has struggled to maintain consistency. However, he looked quite impressive in his previous match against Gigante, beating the 217th ranked player, in straight sets 6-3,7-5.

On the other hand, his opponent, Alejandro Tabilo, will enter this match following his 6-3,7-5 win over Serbia’s Dusan Lajovic. Fritz vs Tabilo: Head-to-Head
Tabilo will need to force a massive upset if he wants to make a deeper run in this tournament. He has never beaten Taylor Fritz in his career so far. The American currently has a 3-0 lead in their H2H. Interestingly, this is going to be their second meeting at Indian Wells as well.

Prediction: Taylor Fritz to win this match in straight sets
Be it current form or head-to-head record, Taylor Fritz has a clear-cut edge over Alejandro Tabilo at the moment. So beating the former champion on his home soil won’t be easy for the World No. 31. If we take a look at their numbers this season, Fritz has a win-loss record of 8-4, while for Tabilo, it’s 1-6, which is not encouraging at all.
Talking about their playing styles, Tabilo has a big lefty forehand, and his left-handed forehand is usually flat or hit with a lot of spin. He loves hitting heavy cross-court shots into his opponent’s backhand. Fritz needs to be a bit watchful of Tabilo’s counter-attacking shots. However, considering his vast experience of playing against big opponents, it’s unlikely he will struggle too much against the Chilean.

Conversely, Fritz’s gameplay is mainly focused on his fiery serves. He has already hit 132 aces this season! Other than that, he is also an offensive baseliner and loves hitting powerful groundstrokes to force errors out of his opponents. His most consistent and powerful stroke is his forehand, and he also possesses a strong backhand. Even his on-court movements are truly exceptional.
Beating Fritz on this surface will be a really tough challenge. It’s highly unlikely that Tabillo will be able to pull it off. Frit should advance winning the match in straight sets.
