We are into the business end of the Indian Wells tournament and have already seen some enthralling tennis action. It has been a difficult tournament for the seeded players, with some huge upsets taking place. The likes of Daniil Medvedev, Naomi Osaka, Alexander Zverev have already bowed out early in the tournament. Further, in another thrilling tennis match, Rafael Nadal overcame the challenge of Nick Kyrgios to enter the semifinals.

The Australian was in blazing form, dispatching his opponents easily prior to his match against Nadal. However, he couldn’t go past the Spaniard, even after giving his all. The 21-time Grand Slam champion used his experience to win points at crucial junctures as he prevailed in a three-set thriller. After the match, Kyrgios made a funny statement about Nadal, to which Andy Roddick had a hilarious reply.

Andy Roddick has a hilarious response to Nick Kyrgios’ statement

It was an action-packed match between Rafael Nadal and Nick Kyrgios in Indian Wells. From the loud noises of the crowd to Kyrgios smashing his racquet, the match had it all. Further, during the first set, the Australian called Nadal ‘lucky’ on multiple occasions, giving a wry smile towards his team. It was a keenly fought first set going right down to the wire. Nadal eventually prevailed in the first set, winning the tie-breaker.

Subsequently, the former US Open champion, Andy Roddick took a hilarious dig at Kyrgios. He said, “What is the old saying? The harder one works, the luckier they tend to get? …….. seems applicable here.”

Moreover, Kyrgios was visibly frustrated during the match and vented his frustration on numerous occasions. He was disappointed with the constant noise from the crowd while he was serving and even complained to the chair umpire, Carlos Bernardes regarding this. At one point, the chair umpire took action and said, “Ten thousand people who want to watch tennis here and you are the only one screaming like crazy.”
