Tsitsipas will have his girlfriend, Paula Badosa, cheering for him at the tournament. While the latter has withdrawn from the tournament, Tsitsipas will hope to make it big in the first leg of the Sunshine Double. Let’s find out how the odds stack up for him.

Tsitsipas enters the tournament on the back of a quarterfinal finish at the Mexican Open. Earlier this year, he couldn’t proceed beyond the fourth round at the Australian Open, suffering a heartbreaking loss against Taylor Fritz. His best performance of the year came in Los Cabos, where he reached the semifinal. However, Tsitsipas will look to better that, as he aims to win his maiden title this year.
On the contrary, Pouille is going through a rough patch lately. Playing on the Challenger Tour, he started the year by reaching the final in Nonthaburi. However, he has suffered a dip in form since then, making early exits from the tournaments. As a result, it will be a monumental task for Pouille against Tsitsipas at Indian Wells.

Given the form he is in and his superior head-to-head record against Pouille, it might be an uphill task for the latter to prevail in this contest. It is predicted that Tsitsipas will have another easy victory, and will cruise into the second round of the tournament in straight sets. Nonetheless, Pouille will try to give his best and get his season back on track. Their match takes place on Court 3 later today.
